waves and little tiny rocks and shells against your ear and holding shells to try to listen and holding in your hand little tiny rocks and and and and and listening carefully but slowly and listening and waves waves waves they come close and your toes sink into the sand waves come and the sand mud creeps over your toes and in your hand the little tiny shells and fingers touching salty water and fingers touching the shells and your toes in the water and your feet in the sand mud sinking and the tide pulling the waves back the waves the tide and the sand the waves and the little tiny rocks and in your hand you hold the shell against your ear and in the water your toes and the sand and listening, listening, listening.  detaching, the sea and.  underwater, fizzy salted water, and in your fingers the shell and in your ear the ocean.  seeing the shell.  toes in the sand mud.  try to listen.  listening carefully.  try to see the pieces.  little tiny rocks, listen carefully to the shell in your fingers.  in your ear the sound of the.  holding the sound in your fingers.  bring it home.
